Reflecting on Christ’s life, His humility and incarnation, and His death on a cross, St. Paul wrote a triumphant hymn, our second reading, in his praise. The rejoicing of the disciples on that first Palm Sunday, the celebration, their exultation as Jesus went to take His throne, is all recaptured. Their faith was vindicated. This is what, in the end, did happen. God raised Him high. And so we rejoice with them today and “bend the knee at the name of Jesus;†we acclaim Him Lord and Messiah, to the glory of God the Father. In this Holy Mass we worship and adore Him, letting our lives as well as our lips sing His praise.
