“At the III Synod of the PNCC held in Chicago, IL 95 years ago the synod body voted to have a special feast day to commemorate the Christian Family. It was decided to set aside the second Sunday of October for this special celebration of the Christian Family, which was to stress the importance of the Christian Family in our society and to remind the faithful of the example of the Holy Family. […] We remind parents that they have responsibility to provide their children not only for their material and physical needs, but also their spiritual needs. […] We remind children that they have the the responsibility to obey their parents. […] We should be grateful to Almighty God for our parents, especially since they nurture us as infants, take care of us as children, lead and guide us as youth and young adults, and above all shower us with concern, care and love.†(Most Rev.
